From Harlem Dreams to Global Destinations: The Heart Behind AHTRAVELSNYC

Welcome to the world of AHTRAVELSNYC! I’m so glad you’re here. If you’ve ever wondered who is behind those dream vacations and seamless cruise bookings, or why I decided to trade the stage for suitcases, you’re in the right place.

Every travel agent has a "why," but mine started long before I ever booked my first flight. It started in the vibrant, loud, and beautiful streets of Harlem.

Growing Up Between Harlem and the Bronx

I was born and raised in Harlem: a place where the energy is unmatched and the dreams are even bigger. My childhood was a mix of city sounds and high aspirations. Eventually, we moved to the Bronx, where I stayed until I was 16.

Back then, if you had asked me what I wanted to be, I wouldn't have said "Travel Agent." I wanted to be a triple threat. I had visions of being a famous singer or actor. I even tried my hand at modeling, thinking it would be my golden ticket to the spotlight.

But here’s the thing about the entertainment industry: it’s a monster. I was young, I was small, and I had no protection. It didn’t take long to realize that the industry wasn't the sparkling dream I had imagined. While that specific dream didn't come to life in the way I planned, I never lost my voice. To this day, you can still catch me singing in the hallways and the shower: the acoustics are just too good to pass up!

The Search for Fulfillment: From Housing to Travel

I’ve always felt a deep pull to bring my community together. I wanted to do work that actually mattered. For a while, I thought that meant working in social services. I spent time helping the homeless and assisting low-income families with housing.

It was important work, but it wasn't fulfilling. I found myself bogged down by endless rules, bureaucracy, and "inside stuff" that made it hard to actually help people the way I wanted to. I felt like a cog in a machine rather than a force for change.

Then, one morning, I woke up with a feeling. You know the one: where your gut tells you it’s time for something completely different. I jumped online and started searching for how to start my own business. I wanted something that allowed me to share the peace and calmness I found when I traveled.

That "Travel Feeling"

When I travel, it’s not just about a change of scenery. It’s a feeling. It’s that deep sense of calmness and peace that washes over you when you see the ocean for the first time or walk through a quiet street in Italy. It’s that magical "never want to go home" vibe where the stress of daily life just… evaporates.

I realized that I wanted to give that feeling to other people. I wanted to take the "monster" out of vacation planning: the stress, the endless tabs, the fear of making a mistake: and replace it with pure, sun-drenched joy.

How I Started: The LLC Journey

Starting a business can feel intimidating, but I’m a firm believer that if you have the drive, you can figure it out. When I decided to make AHTRAVELSNYC official, I used LegalZoom to get my LLC (Limited Liability Company).

If you’re sitting there with a dream of your own, here is the simplified process I followed to start my business:

  1. Choose Your Name: I knew I wanted my brand to reflect my roots and my mission. Once you have a name, LegalZoom checks if it’s available in your state.
  2. Select Your Plan: They offer different tiers (Basic, Pro, Premium). For a new travel business, the basic filing is often a great place to start.
  3. Appoint a Registered Agent: This is a person or entity that handles official legal documents for your business. You can do it yourself, but many people pay for a service for privacy.
  4. File the Articles of Organization: This is the official paperwork that goes to the Secretary of State.
  5. Get Your EIN: An Employer Identification Number is like a social security number for your business. You’ll need this to open a business bank account (which is a must!).

Getting that official LLC certificate was a turning point. I wasn't just Ayesha from Harlem anymore; I was the CEO of AHTRAVELSNYC.

What Does a Travel Agent Actually Do?

Many people think travel agents just "click book" on a website, but it is so much more than that. When you work with me, I am your advocate, your researcher, and your personal concierge from start to finish.

My duties include:

  • Personalized Vacation Planning: I don't believe in "one size fits all" trips. Whether you want a luxury suite in Mexico or a cozy villa in Greece, I tailor everything to your vibe.
  • Cruise Expertise: As a Carnival Expert Diamond Level Graduate, I know the ships inside and out. I also book with Royal Caribbean and AMA Waterways.
  • Handling the Details: From flights and travel insurance guidance to guided tour packages (like Globus Tours), I handle the logistics so you can just show up and enjoy.
  • Exclusive Savings: Because of my industry connections, I can often secure deals you won't find on public sites: sometimes up to 30% savings or instant credits!
  • Peace of Mind: If a flight is canceled or a hotel has an issue, you don't call a 1-800 number. You call me.

Let’s Find Your Peace Together

I might not be on a Broadway stage, but I’m still a triple threat in the travel world: Expertise, Personalization, and Heart. I took my dream of bringing people together and turned it into a way to help families, couples, and professionals find their peace in the most beautiful places on Earth.

Are you ready to experience that "never want to go home" feeling? Let’s start planning your next escape. Whether it's an all-inclusive resort at Beaches or a magical Disney trip, I’ve got you covered.
